Details of the Occupational First Aid Course

The occupational-first-aid course meets WorkSafe BC requirements for first aid training in the workplace.

As of September 1, 2018, Canadian Red Cross Emergency First Aid and Standard First Aid courses are considered equivalent to Worksafe BC Occupational First Aid Course for the purpose of workplace first aid attendants.  And Red Cross courses have the added benefit of national recognition, more flexible class instruction, and they teach the critical life savings skills for all ages, not just adults.

Key Contents of Occupational First Aid Course<

  • Basic Life Support (CPR-A)

  • Small Wound Management

  • Critical airway, breathing, and circulation interventions with C-spine management.

    Standard First Aid -INTERMEDIATE FIRST AID training program recognized by WorkSafeBC (previously called OFA Level 2) designed to provide first aid skills to workers in the industry in BC. No previous first aid training required. certification- valid for 3 years. Blended course- online and in class Must be physically able to perform all of the First Aid tasks required to complete the course for learning tasks.
